Ok...so let me tell you a story.....I worked at Geoffrey's, a restaurant in Malibu, on and off for 11 years from 1989 to 2000. It's a beautiful and magical place! I had soooo many incredible experiences there and I'm about to tell you about one of my favorites.....
Robert Redford had a home on Broad Beach and he would sometimes come into Geoffrey's for dinner. He usually came in the summer time when he was in town. Without fail, he would greet our head server, Glenn, by name, and ask him questions about a conversation they had the summer before....not only did he remember names but he remembered conversations! Incredible!!! I remember walking by his table, trying to linger as long as comfortably possible, just to hear what he was talking about. I can tell you that it was ALWAYS intelligent. You just knew he was going to make the world a better place! He cares about people, animals, the environment and politics. He inspired me to want to know more about what's happening in the world. He inspired me to always have an opinion and to be open to other thoughts and opinions. Most importantly, he inspired me to pay attention to what I was spending my time talking about!!! I can go on and on.....but I think you get the point!
We should all be smart like Robert Redford.....always learning, reading, being the best we can be, being mindful.....and having intelligent conversations that can change the world!
